Hengistbury Head Visitor Centre

The new Hengistbury Head Visitor Centre will provide a unique attraction to visitors to Hengistbury Head, a site of historic interest and unique habitat.

The centre, based upon an existing thatched barn, will include a shop, exhibition and community space and will feature displays showing the nature reserve’s plants, animals and their habitats.

There will also be archaeology exhibitions chronicling the history of the area from 60 million years ago when it was below a tropical sea, through the Stone Age, to the Iron Age when it was an important trading port.

The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) has given £432,000. The rest is from developer and landfill contributions.

BAQUS is the appointed Quantity Surveyor and is working in close collaboration with the Client and other Consultants involved with the project, which is due to open to the public in Spring 2013.
